Free website testing tools

Test your website.

See what trusted technical testing tools can tell you about your website — then learn what those scores do and don’t explain.

You don’t need to understand SEO terminology. Enter your website once and choose the checks you want to run.

What these tests do

Five public checks, run against your own site.

These are the same public tools we use ourselves at the start of a technical review. They are run by Google, Schema.org, Qualys and the W3C — not by FLOWLINE — and each opens in its own tab so you can come back here to read what the result means.

Every test below has its own field, so you can check one page, or different pages, in any order you like. Nothing is required of you: no name, no email, no company.

When you launch a test, FLOWLINE records the website address, the test selected and the time of use, so we can understand how this resource is being used. Contact information is optional — you never have to give us your details to use any of these tools.

Performance

Speed + technical health

Check your website's performance, accessibility, technical best practices and basic SEO signals.

What this test can tell youHow quickly the page loads and behaves for a visitor, and whether there are obvious technical or accessibility problems.

What it cannot tell youA strong score does not mean customers can find every service, location or capability your company offers.

Structured data

Google structured data

See whether Google recognises structured information on the page that may support eligible search-result features.

What this test can tell youWhether Google can read the structured information on the page, and which result features it might qualify for.

What it cannot tell youValid markup does not automatically mean the website clearly represents the whole business.

Markup

Schema check

See what structured information the page provides about its content, and whether the markup contains errors.

What this test can tell youExactly what the page currently declares about itself, and where that markup is malformed.

What it cannot tell youSchema can describe what is already on the website. It cannot fix business information that is missing from the site in the first place.

Security

HTTPS + SSL

Check the security configuration behind your website's HTTPS connection.

What this test can tell youWhether the certificate and encryption settings on your server are configured correctly and up to date.

What it cannot tell youA secure connection is essential, but it does not tell us whether your site is structured well for search or for customers.

Advanced

Advanced: HTML validation

A developer-oriented check for errors and warnings in the page's underlying HTML markup.

What this test can tell youWhere the page's HTML is invalid or ambiguous, which can occasionally cause rendering or crawling problems.

What it cannot tell youMost sites carry harmless warnings. A long list here is not by itself a reason to rebuild anything.

Not sure what the results mean?

A green score doesn't necessarily mean everything is working. A low score doesn't automatically mean you need a rebuild either. If you want, send us the site and we'll tell you what we would investigate first.

We test our own site too

Automated scores can change as testing conditions, content and third-party systems change. A high score does not guarantee search rankings.

The limit of automated testing

A perfect score doesn’t mean you’re visible.

We’re proud of strong technical scores, because the foundation matters. But a website can perform perfectly and still fail to explain an important service, city, project type, capability or piece of expertise.

Automated tests measure parts of the website. FLOWLINE investigates the business the website is supposed to represent.

Two Field Reports go further into this: SEO Isn’t Just Rankings Anymore and What Plumbing Websites Fail to Explain.

Want us to look at what the scores can’t tell you?

A first look from FLOWLINE starts with the business, not the score: what you actually do, where you do it, which services deserve more room, and what should be protected before anything changes.

Where to go next

Depending on what the tests showed.

Want a first look from us?

We start with the business, not the score — what you do, where you do it, and what should be protected.

Just want us to look at the results?

Send the site using the form above and we’ll tell you what we would investigate first.

Technical problems showing up?

Hosting, platform, performance and maintainability decide what a website can safely support.

Scores fine, still not found?

That usually isn’t a technical problem. It’s a representation problem.
